Natural Porcelain Veneers From Our Marietta Dental Office
If you are unhappy with the shape, color or alignment of your teeth, you might want to consider dental veneers. At Shining Smiles Family Dentistry in Marietta, we use high-quality, thin and natural porcelain veneers to create your perfect smile. Creating a smile you’ll be proud of is one of the many cosmetic dental services we offer. Dr. Shaila Mohip-Chahwala will listen closely to your needs and craft veneers that are perfect for you.
What Are Dental Veneers?
A veneer is a very thin yet sturdy piece of porcelain (about the thickness of a contact lens) that adheres to the front of your tooth in order to improve the aesthetic appearance of the tooth. While that may sound a little strange (covering your tooth enamel with a piece of porcelain) it provides absolutely stunning results for patients looking to improve their smile.
Also, while every case is unique, most patients do not get just a single veneer; 4–8 is the common number. At Shining Smiles, Dr. Mohip will evaluate your needs, work with you and provide recommendations based on what you need in order to get the smile you’ve always wanted.
What Problems Can Porcelain Veneers Fix?
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure that can be used to fix a wide variety of issues with damaged teeth.
- Chipped teeth
- Cracked teeth(Including a hairline crack)
- Stained teeth
- Broken teeth
- Gapped teeth
If your teeth are chipped, cracked, stained or broken, and you do not have any underlying issues that would first require more extensive dental work, then you’re likely a great candidate for porcelain veneers.
What’s Involved in Getting Porcelain Veneers
The first step in getting porcelain veneers is to schedule an appointment with our cosmetic dentist right here in Marietta. There’s no need to fight downtown Atlanta traffic when you have a qualified and experienced cosmetic dentist right in your backyard.
During this dental appointment, you’ll discuss the exact result you would like to achieve for your smile. Dr. Mohip and the Shining Smiles team will then develop a plan to make your dream smile a reality.
There is absolutely no pressure, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the procedure. We want you to be armed with the information you need to feel comfortable in choosing us for your veneers procedure.
If you decide that you want to move forward, a follow-up appointment will be scheduled where we will take images and impressions of your teeth, then discuss next steps. It’s important for you to know that getting porcelain veneers is an irreversible procedure. Typically, patients will need tooth enamel removed, and this will change the underlying look of the tooth.
If you choose veneers, you will have the opportunity to make decisions about the size, shape, and shade of the veneers. At Shining Smiles, we work with you to develop the veneers so that your outcome is an incredible, natural-looking smile you’ll be happy to show off.
While the veneers are being created in a dental lab, you will be provided with temporary veneers to cover the prepared teeth. Don’t worry about your temporary veneers looking artificial; we do our very best to create natural-looking temporary veneers to make your smile shine.
The temporary veneers will be removed at a later appointment and the new veneers will be bonded to the fronts of the teeth.
Patients are often concerned about whether getting dental veneers is painful. Some patients will experience mild discomfort, while others report very little discomfort. People perceive pain differently, so it’s impossible to provide a definitive answer.
Just like everything else in life, the better care you take of your veneers, the longer they will last. Historically, porcelain veneers can be counted on to last anywhere from 10–20 years.
Common Questions About Veneers
Porcelain veneers are made from stain-resistant materials, so they are likely to maintain their bright shade for years. However, it is possible to experience some discoloration over time, depending on your oral hygiene routine and the quality of materials. At Shining Smiles, we use materials of exceptional quality, and advise all patients to maintain regular brushing and flossing.
The best quality veneers are made from thin porcelain. Other materials such as resin composites could also be used for dental veneers.
If you don’t want veneers, there are other options for improving your smile. Bridges, crowns, Invisalign® braces and teeth whitening can be used individually – or in combination – to improve the aesthetic look of your teeth and improve your smile.
